The geodesic dome is Buckminster Fuller's most enduring legacy, and the city of Carbondale is the proud home of the only dome which Bucky lived in and owned.
We are dedicated to a complete restoration of the Fuller Dome Home. This will ensure not only an additional educational-tourist resource to Southern Illinois, but a physical space where we can embrace, share, and express our unique cultural and intellectual heritage.
Restoring Bucky's home is just the beginning. The Fuller Dome plans include the creation of a "living" museum and learning center. In 2012 we complete the restoration. In 2013 we debut the living museum and increase programming as well as kick off the first year of our artist and scholar residence program. In 2014 we begin work toward an interpretive center dedicated to all things Bucky.

In February of 2011 The Fuller Dome was selected as recipient of the highly competitive Save America's Treasures grant. This $125,000 matching grant directly supports preservation efforts and means all donations received by the Fuller Dome are doubled in value! Every dollar you donate is matched by the grant.
Under federal grant guidelines, the Fuller Dome restoration must be complete by the end of 2012. Your tax-deductable contribution goes a long way toward assuring our success, building Bucky's legacy, saving his home, and preserving his most acclaimed artifact. Help us Bring Bucky Home by contributing today.
Checks and payments can be made to The Fuller Dome or RBF Dome NFP. Each donation of $100 underwrites one small triangle of the dome and may be purchased in multiples to grow your triangle. Any amount is welcome, appreciated and tremendously helpful.

R. Buckminster Fuller dedicated his life to creating solutions that would benefit everyone. His challenge: "make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous cooperation without ecological damage or disadvantage to anyone."
A Professor in the Design Department at Southern Illinois University from 1959 to 1972, Bucky is a unique figure in Carbondale history, and a grandfather of the green movement.
RBF Dome NFP was formed in 2002 by a small group of local volunteers who believed that the Fuller Dome Home in Carbondale, Illinois was an extremely important historic artifact which should be preserved for the appreciation and education of future generations.
...preserve the original dome home of R. Buckminster Fuller and Anne Hewlett-Fuller located at 407 South Forest Ave. in Carbondale, Illinois...
...grow and operate a "home museum" in the preserved Fuller Dome Home that chronicles the years that Buckminster Fuller and his wife Anne lived in the dome in Carbondale...
...increase awareness of the principles, philosophies and artifacts discovered and created by Buckminster Fuller, and...
...share Fuller’s principles, philosophies and artifacts with the youth of the world through educational and grant programs.
We would like to amplify the positive message of hope for the success of all humanity that was at the core of Fuller’s philosophy.
